Parents. At The Spring Playgroup we believe that parents are their child’s first and most influential teacher as well as their child’s main source of care, love and security. The playgroup staff seek to create a positive and happy environment building relationships so we can work together in partnership helping in their child’s learning. We encourage all parents to be as involved as they want or need to be in all aspects of Playgroup life.
Staff. Most of our staff started helping out in Playgroup as volunteer parents and enjoyed it so much that they undertook the necessary training to become full members of staff. As a result, all our staff are qualified to or working towards the required standards. Details of the staffs' qualifications with each staff member’s role in Playgroup appear in the 'MEET THE TEAM' Section.
Keyworkers. Each child is assigned a keyworker, if possible for the duration of their time in Playgroup. Keyworkers have a vital role with their children. They settle them in, take a special interest in them day by day, and observe, record and communicate children’s progress to parents.
Staff Development. All staff are encouraged and enabled as far as it lies within our power, to pursue on-going training and skill development: to work towards higher qualifications and to develop specialist knowledge in areas in which they have a special interest or gift. We have ‘In Service’ Training (INSET) days in line with the schools.
Trustees. Day to day management of Playgroup is the responsibility of the Manager/Supervisor, Mrs Jacqueline Cross. Overall responsibility for the running of Playgroup rests with the full board of Trustees of The Spring Playgroup Charity: Jacqueline Cross, (Supervisor); Mrs Candy Evans (Chairperson); Mr Matt Hustwayte (secretary), Mrs Wendy Wilson (parents' representative), Mrs Lindsey Jones, Mrs Sam Hustwayte and Mrs Ruth Gibbins.
Management Team. The role of the management team is to support the Supervisor with the smooth running of Playgroup. This includes planning and making decisions in all areas from curriculum to fund-raising, to keeping up with the ever changing legislation. The management team at present consists of Mrs Jackie Cross and Mrs Sarah Walters.
